Abstract

The human trafficking in this modern days has developed very fast in many ways. Many women and children become the victims of human trafficking due to their position. The human trafficking is slavery in the modern times. The human as the image of God is destroyed. It is a crime against humanity. The aim of this study is to know how FMM Congregation assists the women as the victims to empower themselves. To investigate the role of FMM Congregation as a religious institute in assisting the victims of human trafficking whether it is already according to the regulation in Indonesia, especially the regulation in the legal regarding with the social welfare. This method used in this study is normative legal research. The data gathering techniques including library research and interview with resource persons. This study used deductive process to conclude the analysis. The data of this study is taken from the Shelter “House of Hope” in Jakarta belonging to FMM Congregation. The result showed that the assistance of FMM Congregation in empowering the victims of human trafficking is already according to the regulation of the Indonesian Law.
