Abstract

This study describes the role of the police in dealing with crimes of violence of different ethnic backgrounds in the Special Region Yogyakarta. Where at the moment a lot of violence in Jogjakarta masquerading intertribal which resulted in the division that lead to circumstances that are not conducive region of DIY, sectarian violence is actually mostly due triggered by understanding but provoked by other groups that make arise a big problem between tribes different. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the police in dealing with crimes of violence background tribal region Yogyakarta special laws in the Region. The results of this study indicate that while the role of the police in dealing with crimes of violence background of different races in the province carried out by means of preventive, action to prevent violence background in different races and in the DIY done by doing approach, socialization, legal counseling, cooperation to educational institutions and community leaders, this is done for the hope that is not the occurrence of criminal background of the different tribes. Likewise, in terms of dealing with crimes of violence which different ethnic backgrounds have a role: the role of police repression.
