Abstract

Bengawan Solo River is very useful for various purposes, such as agriculture, fishery or tourism, but the quality of the river water of Bengawan Solo has decreased the quality, thus minimizing the function of the river. The problem under study is the role of the Environment Agency (BLH) in controlling pollution of the Bengawan Solo River in Sukoharjo District. Based on the results of research can be stated that the polluted river condition caused by the industry that dispose of waste directly into the river. As an effort to control the pollution, BLH has done the rehabilitation of river water, issued prokasih program, and conducted counseling to the society, so it can be concluded that BLH Sukoharjo District has implemented the control of pollution of Bengawan Solo River well although not maximally due to budget constraints and the extent of Bengawan River Solo. Therefore, some district governments in Bengawan Solo River need to be more coordinated in pollution control, and BLH Sukoharjo District needs to give firmer sanctions to industries that dispose of waste into Bengawan Solo River.
