Abstract

Narcotics is a substances that when entered into the body will affect the body, especially the central nervous system and brain. Basically narcotics in the appropriate dose can be used for treatment but if we used in a wrong dose will cause physical, psychological/mental disorders and also cause hallucinations. In fact many student in Yogyakarta City used narcotics. The purpose of this research is to know the role of police in handling the cases of non-criminal narcotic done by students in Yogyakarta City. In this legal writing , the researcher tries to examine and analyze the role of police in handling the cases of criminal act of narcotics done by students in Yogyakarta City which using normative legal research methods and literature. The data used are the primary legal materials consisting of the Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Police of Republic of Indonesia and the Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, as well as secondary data which consists of books, journals, articles, theses, internet-related research topics, and dictionary. Based on the results of research and analysis, the researcher concluded that the police of special regional of Yogyakarta have implemented efforts to eradicate narcotics crimes by students in special areas of Yogyakarta as mandated by related laws.
