Abstract

The following thesis is entitled “Law Enforcement Against Illegal Gold Mining Activities as an effort to control Environmental Issues in the District Kotawaringin Timur”. The legal research was aimed at knowing how the law enforcement towards the ilegal gold mining activities was able to control environmental issues in the Kotim Regency. The research findings showed that there was lack of law enforcement against illegal gold mining activities in kotim Regency due to the resistance of the illegal mining actors, lack of inter-agency coordination, lack of public understanding and the lack of supervisory officers. It could be concluded that law enforcement on illegal gold mining was not well conducted in spite of many efforts made by the local government agencies, such as PMPTSP, DLH, UPT mining and Kotim Resort Police in preventing and controlling the ilegal mining. It was therefore suggested that Kotim Regency and the police socialize the regional regulation number 5 of 2015 on Spatial Planning, the importance of IUP, and more seriously enforce the laws on mining and environmental protection
