Abstract

The title of this legal research is The Role of Police In Tackling Criminal Acts of The Deprivation by Debt Collectors Related Bank Credit Agreement In The Region of Sleman Regency. The type of this research is normative legal research that focuses on positive legal norms. While the data source consistsof primary and secondary legal materials. Based on the research that the author did, it can be concluded that the role of police in tackling criminal acts of the deprivation by debt collectors related bank credit agreement in the region of Sleman Regency, includes in the pre-emptive, preventive, and repressive efforts. The obstaclesare the disconnected information network, especially the victims who are legally blind,people who are apathetic in assisting the police when asked by the investigator, the lack of witnessesand the evidence. One of Author’s recommendationis the police officers can be more maximize in handling the crime of extortion which was did by debt collectors in the region of Sleman Regency either in the form of the pre-emptive, preventive, or repressive effort and be more active in giving a return to the people especially who are related with the deprivation which is did by debt collectors in the region of Sleman Regency.
