Abstract

The laundry business has developed rapidly and the waste produced has negative impacts for the environment. The monitoring of the laundry business is a part of a environmental preservation effort. What role does the Life Environmental Agency of Makassar play in monitoring laundry business activity as an effort of environmental pollution control of Makassar. What are the obstacles faced by Life Environmental Agency of Makassar in monitoring laundry business activity as an effort of environmental pollution control in Makassar. This thesis aims to understand the role of Life Environmental Agency of Makassar in monitoring laundry business activity as an effort of environmental pollution control in Makassar. Empirical research focused on law behavior where primary data was used as the main data besides secondary data. Two conclusions were drawn from this research: (1) the licensing monitoring and waste discharge process and obstacles faced are lack of monitoring due to a large number of laundry businesses and (2) there are still many unlicensed laundry businesses. Related environmental agency of Makassar gives socialization to laundry businesses. Makassar city environmental agency should conduct law enforcement over businesses that violate the rules and place sanctions on laundry businesses that are not properly licensed.
