Abstract

Drug abuse is one of the cases commonly occurred in Indonesia which is done by the substance addicts, narcotic drug couriers, and narcotic drug dealers. To overcome the cases of drug abuse, Law Number 2 Year 2002 on The Indonesian National Police and Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics state that the police efforts to investigate the crime of narcotics are through preemptive, preventive, and repressive ways. The punishment for the substance addicts, narcotic drug couriers, narcotic drug dealers, and narcotic abusers are arranged on Chapter XV Article 111 – Article 148 in Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics. This research aims to identify the efforts of Resort Police Sleman in investigating the crime on narcotics in Sleman Regency and to find out the obstacles faced by the Resort Police Sleman in investigating the crime on narcotics in Sleman Regency. This research focuses on the positive law in form of laws. The analysis of this research applied the deductive method. After accomplishing this research, it can be concluded that the efforts to prevent and to eradicate the narcotic crimes done by the Resort Police Sleman are through preemptive, preventive, and repressive ways toward the obstacles. As a suggestion drawn here, police officers must maintain and continuously improve the performance to eradicate the users, couriers, dealers, and drug abusers from the old and new drugs.
