Abstract

Parangtritis Beach is a beautiful beach that was visited by many tourists both local and domestic. This south beach was one of the prime beaches of Yogyakarta City. However, many tourists are not yet aware of the importance of maintaining the environment of the tourist attractions, so many of them are littering and not taking care of the tourist attractions. The purpose of this thesis was to find out the legal protection efforts against the environment from tourism activities in Parangtritis Beach, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta and to find out the obstacles in the effort of legal protection for the environment from Parangtritis Beach tourism activities in Bantul, Yogyakarta. The location of the study was conducted in Bantul, Yogyakarta. This thesis was used as the normative method, which is research conducted by examining secondary data. The results showed that the legal protection efforts against the environment from tourism activities on the Parangtritis Beach in Bantul (Yogyakarta was good enough). Starting from the government that has carried out its obligations according to the Regional Regulation of Bantul District Number 10/2000 concerning Beauty, Environmental Health, and Waste/Hygiene Service Levies as well as the community who participated in cleaning the environment around tourist attractions. The government also wants to develop tourism attractions such as improving human resources, facilities, and infrastructure and so on to increase the attractiveness of Parangtritis beach tourism. This was supported by the Bantul Regency Regulation Number 18/2015 concerning the 2015-2025 Regional Tourism Development Master Plan. The constraints in legal protection efforts against the environment from tourism activities in Bantul regency, Yogyakarta is most of the visitors where tourism was not aware of the importance of maintaining cleanliness then another obstacle is in terms of lack of human resources, facilities, and infrastructure, lack of trash around the beach, less strict regulations for sanctions for perpetrators who throw garbage litter.
