Abstract

The living environment is the whole package of several complementary aspects such as things, efforts, conditions, and living creatures, included human beings. Human beings, which by their manners also behaviours, defines and determinates the wealth of other human beings and other living creatures for human prosperity. One of business that gives real effects to the environment is Slaughterhouse (Rumah Potong Hewan/RPH). Slaughterhouse is a purposed building with a particular design which used as butchery and selling meat area for public. Segoroyoso is one of slaughterhouse (RPH) in Pleret Bantul, which is one of the beef suppliers for Yogyakarta. Slaughtering activities in Segoroyoso can not be separated from waste from the slaughtering itself. The domestic waste needs to be processed before discharge to environment. The waste processing through Segoroyoso RPH is the responsibility of UPT RPH Segoroyoso supervised by Department of Agriculture Marine and Fishery. This study aims to determine the role of Bantul Environmental Department (Departemen Lingkungan Hidup) in controlling pollution as resulted through Segoroyoso slaughterhouse’s waste. This research writing apply the empirical legal method. As the results of this research, DLH of Bantul Regency has the role in controlling environmental pollution in Segoroyoso. So by receiving the supervision report, DLH Bantul takes control the pollution of Segoroyoso RPH.
