Abstract

At the moment, the Indonesian Government is prioritizing development in every aspect to realize the national ideals and goals of the Indonesian nation. The government plays an essential role in implementing development, namely in planning and implementing national development. Regional development is an integral part of national development. It is carried out based on the principle of regional autonomy that provides authority to regulate and manage the interests of local communities according to their initiatives based on community aspirations by laws and regulations. Therefore, the government established an institution that specializes in regional development through Presidential Decree No. 27 of 1980 regarding the establishment of the Regional Development Planning Agency, abbreviated as BAPPEDA. Challenges in a regional development cannot be separated from the existence of poverty in the area, especially Tegal City. Based on the description of the background, the researcher formulated the study around the analysis of the role of BAPPEDA in overcoming poverty in Tegal City. To find out how the role of BAPPEDA in overcoming poverty in Tegal City and what are the obstacles. The method used is empirical legal research. This method focuses on social facts. The analysis used is qualitative analysis, that the data obtained from the research is presented and processed qualitatively. According to the results, Bappeda must map which categories of poor and vulnerable are poor and work together with related agencies to overcome poverty, and the obstacle is the lack of optimal coordination.
