Abstract

Implementation of quality management system is an effective way to achieve successful performance of the organization. ISO 9000 is one of the quality management system that becomes the basis of development for assuring the quality of products/services area. The benefits of implementing ISO 9000 have been experienced by many organizations. However, there is still a lack of interest in this international standard. The purpose of this research is to assess the contractor performance based on implementation of ISO 9000 standard for non-ISO 9000 certified companies. Questionnaire were delivered directly to engineers in construction companies. A three-step was used to obtain the data from 62 returned questionnaires. The results shows the performance of the contractor based on ISO 9000 seven principles. The gap was identified between the performance of contractor in reality and the level of importance of ISO 9000. The finding will help the future researcher to work and studies about the implementation of the ISO 9000 for a better performance.
