Abstract

Illegal wildlife trades are being banned by Indonesian law, yet those activities are still going on. This study intents to investigate how law enforcement is being proceed to judge person who do illegal wildlife trades and what is the role of conservation agents on law enforcement for illegal wildlife trades. The study used normative law study method that being focused on positive legal norms using secondary data as primary data. Those secondary data collected from Indonesian law about the problem, literatures, legal opinions, websites, documents and magazines that discuss illegal wildlife trades. Along with it interview were being held with either institute or conservation agent, those who have responsibilities on illegal wildlife trade. Those institute or conservation agent include BKSDA (Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam or Nature Conservation Agency of Indonesia) and police. Result of the study shows that the law enforcement for illegal wildlife trade is correspond to Indonesian law especially law number 5 on 1990 (UU no.5 tahun 1990) especially clause number 21 verse 2 and clause number 40 verse 2, regulation about natural resources conservation and its ecosystem.
