Abstract

This research was carried out in the jurisdiction of Sleman regency, at the Sleman Police Precinct traffic police unit, by interviewing Chief of Police trafic Unit. The results showed that, prohibition of use of mobile phones while driving until the day has not been effective in Sleman regency. It can be seen there are still many motorists who use mobile phones while driving either call or send short messages/Short Message Service (SMS), and until now traffic police in Sleman Regency has not taken the enforcement With ticketed for motorcyclists who use mobile phones while driving, but the actions performed by traffic police are still reprimand with verbal strikes. Factors that cause the public to not observe the prohibition of use of mobile phones when driving is caused by several factors, namely the Community factor (incomprehension factor/ignorance of society and the disagreement factor of society), Law enforcement (a factor of no strict sanction by law enforcement).
