Abstract

Using Roland Model MDX40 spin casting machine, UAJY able to produce a high quality of detail and complex design of souvenir, but so far the machine still has many problem such as a high machine vibration, poor design of liquid metal inlet, imprecise inline construction, and poor adjustment of casting table. In this research, the machine was evaluated using Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis and was redesigned to mas enhance the reliability in producing souvenirs so that visually the same as master model and have no defect. By the end of the research, UAJY keychain products were successfully produced using spin casting machine with dimension 500mm x 600mm x 862mm with operating speed at 460 rpm, maximum silicone rubber dimension of ∅300mm x 40mm and electricity power 373 Watt. The production time is 12,15 minutes fot 8 products and the machine cost is IDR 3.529,6/hour.
