Abstract

The environment provides many benefits for human life and living things. Over time, development in an area will continue to grow. This development has both positive and negative impacts. The positive impact is the creation of jobs, while the negative impact can cause a decrease in environmental quality. The solution to solve this problem requires an instrument that is oriented towards protecting environmental quality, namely Green Open Space which has an ecological function to maintain air quality. This thesis entitled "Legal Aspects of Air Quality Protection through Green Open Space (GOP) in Yogyakarta City". This writing uses the normative legal method. The purpose of this paper is to determine the GOP regulation as the implementer of Article 18 of Yogyakarta City regional regulation Number 1 of 2012 concerning Environmental Management in the context of protecting air quality in Yogyakarta City. This writing uses data on GOP for 2017 in the city of Yogyakarta, namely 17.88% which is divided into 12.88% private green open space and 5.00% public green open space, which means that the minimum area of green open space that has been determined is 30% of the city area has not been fulfilled. The steps taken by the Yogyakarta City Government are building a passive park on the roadside, planting trees on the road, and building public green open spaces in residential areas. Good cooperation between the government and the community is needed to meet the requirements for an area of at least 30% and the total area of the city.
