Abstract

This thesis is entitled "Synchronization of Tangerang Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2005 concerning Prohibition of Prostitution against the CEDAW Convention". This study aims to determine whether or not the Tangerang Regulation No. 8/2005 contradicts the Prohibition of Prostitution against the CEDAW Convention. This type of research is a normative study that focuses on positive law. The data in this study were collected with literature review study and the conclusions were drawn using the deductive thinking method. The results showed that Tangerang Regulation No. 8/2005 concerning Prohibition of Prostitution is contrary to the CEDAW Convention because the Regulation do not only limit the women rights but also it has the potential to judge without compromise leading to cases of wrongful arrests. The contents inside the Regional Regulation article are also discriminatory and unclear. Hence, the misinterpretation of the Legal Language or multiple interpretation is the cause of law enforcement lackness.
