Abstract

Tofu is a popular food for the community because it contains good and healthy nutrition. The tofu processing industry is usually carried out by small industries. Tofu industry besides providing welfare benefits also has the potential to cause water pollution as a result of tofu waste. The problem in this study is how to control water pollution as a result of tofu industry activities in the Prambanan District, Klaten Regency. The findings in this study are as follows the process of making tofu produces waste in the form of solid and liquid waste. Solid waste in the form of tofu waste can still be used again as animal feed, while liquid waste produced from tofu production is not processed first, but directly discharged into the river. This is what causes water pollution. The conclusions in this research are controlling pollution and/or environmental damage due to tofu industry activities that have not been done well and the author suggests that the authorities need to conduct counseling and supervision and encourage business actors to conduct IPAL concurrently to ease the tofu industry players.
