Abstract

The ratio legis of legislation is based on philosophical, sociological, and juridical foundations. Good laws and regulations are reflected in the legal principles of forming legislation and there are concrete problems in society that need to be solved. The problem of high risk of suicide in Gunungkidul has made the reason for Gunungkidul’s Regent to issue regulation of Gunungkidul Regent Regulation Number 56 year 2018 on suicide prevention. This method of research uses normative legal methods. This legal research aims to determine the ratio legis in the formation of Gunungkidul Regent Regulation Number 56 year 2018 on suicide prevention. This regent's regulation was born not from delegation regulation and attribution so it is less precise when categorized as legislation. Gunungkidul Regent Regulation is more suitable referred to as regulation of wisdom because it meets its elements. This regulation has not been completely perfect still needed some improvement in suicide problems in Indonesia. Suicide is a complex issue that requires comprehensive research that requires special attention from both the government and the public
