Abstract

This undergraduate thesis is titled “The Efforts to Countermeasures the Circulation of Ilegal Firearms by Yogykarata Special Region Police”, written using a normative research method with the approach of the laws and regulations of the Indonesian Republic Police Chief. Formulation of the problem in this undergraduate thesis is how to deal with the countermeasures of illegal firearm by Yogyakarta Special Region Police? From the legal research that has been carried out using the research that has been mentioned above, it can be concluded that regarding factors affecting the distribution of illegal firearms is because permits for legal ownership of firearms are not easy to obtain, the price of firearms with official purchases is expensive and betide social conflict in the community so that many people have illegal firearms. There are several efforts to cope with the circulation of illegal firearms by the Yogyakarta Special Republic Police, by doing preemptive, preventive and repressive efforts.Preemptive efforts are guidance to eliminate the factor of circulation of illegal firearms, preventive efforts are carried out to eliminate the opportunity to commit crimes, and repressive efforts are the last efforts made to tackle the crime of trafficking in illegal firearms.
