Abstract

This study is entitled "An Overview of Online Gambling Crime Countermeasures in the Legal Territory of the Special Region of Yogyakarta". The problem of this research is "how is the effort of the police in tackling the crime of online gambling in the jurisdiction of the Special Region of Yogyakarta? And what are the obstacles faced by the Yogyakarta Special Police in tackling the crime of online gambling? in tackling online gambling crime and knowing the obstacles faced by the Yogyakarta Special Region Police in overcoming online gambling crime ". This research was conducted at the Yogyakarta Special Region Police with a normative method that is by taking data and interviewing the police, especially in the Criminal Investigation Unit (criminal detective) that handles specific criminal acts including online gambling crime related to writing this thesis. The results of the study obtained by the author that the form of the role of the police in tackling the crime of gambling can be seen from the efforts made, among others, the educational pre-emptive efforts in the form of delivering messages of security and public order (kamtibmas) to the mosque- mosque, Bhayangkara supervisor, security and public order (Bhabinkamtibmas) house to house, and legal counsel in the office village / house of community leaders. Then the preventive efforts in the form of cyber patrol and conducted by cyber police and surveillance on a regular and ongoing basis. In a party repressive effort the police together with the prosecutors and the court carried out investigations, investigations, prosecutions and criminal sanctions and cooperated with the communication and commissioners of the backing of certain elements. barriers faced by the Police in an effort to tackle online gambling crimes namely online server gambling sites are abroad, lack of internet facilities, lack of coordination with community leaders and tools used as tracking so that the police have difficulty in making arrests, the community closed in providing information.
