Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of finding out how the role of civil servant investigators in overcoming environmental pollution as a result of B3 waste (hazardous and toxic materials) in Batam City. In writing this law the writer conducted research through empirical research. Empirical research is research that focuses on the behavior of the legal community (law in action). This research focuses on the role of PPNS in tackling environmental pollution due to hazardous waste that occurs in Batam City. In the government's efforts to protect the environment from damage caused by waste and in the context of environmental management, Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management has been enacted. This law also gives PPNSLH the authority to carry out investigations into environmental law cases in coordination with the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia. Law Number 32 Year 2009 regulates criminal sanctions for cases of environmental pollution resulting from the entry of Hazardous and Toxic Waste into environmental media, because the waste is very dangerous to the survival contained in it. Even though it has been strictly regulated in the UUPPLH, there are still many companies that dispose of Hazardous waste to environmental media without any prior management process.
