Abstract

Sand mining activities were carried out after the eruption of Merapi and were mostly carried out in the Gendol river located in sleman. However, mining activities can have a negative impact on the environment. The research method used is empiricial legal research which is conducted directly to respondents to obtain primary data plus secondary data. The environmental service of sleman regency has an important role in controlling the environmental damage caused by sand mining. This agency implements the Yogyakarta special region regulation number 1 of 2018 concerning the management of metal mineral, non-metal mineral and rock mining businesses so that mining businesses do not have a negative impact on the environment. If there is a problem regarding environmental damage, residents are encourage to directly report to the environmental agency. The author’s suggestion for this study is that the sleman regency environmental service needs to increase socialization to the community regarding mining management in order to maintain environmental quality.
