Abstract

This research is entitled The Effectiveness of the DIY Regional Regulation concerning Wastewater Quality Standards in Controlling Water Pollution due to the batik industrial waste in Kulon Progo Regency. This research describes and examines (1) How the effectiveness of the DIY Regional Regulation in controlling water pollution due to batik industrial waste in Kulon Progo Regency, and (2) what obstacles are faced in controlling water pollution that occurs due to batik industrial waste in Kulon Progo Regency. This research is an empirical legal research. Data collection techniques are carried out directly from sources and respondents through interviews and literature study. The results of this study are that the DIY Regional Regulation on waste water quality standards has been effective in terms of controlling water pollution due to batik industrial waste, because it has been able to reduce pollution that occurs due to the batik industry, but the need for supervision by related agencies of batik industrial activities so as not to cause pollution. water. The constraints found incontrolling water pollution are the lack of awareness of batik industry players about the impact of waste hazards on the environment, low public participation in waste complaints, the very expensive cost of making IPAL, and the absence of strict sanctions for violations. It is recommended that the Environmental Service and related agencies need to take counseling and supervision of batik industry entrepreneurs in Kulon Progo Regency, encourage industry players to build a joint IPAL, the Government needs to increase firmness in implementing strict regulations and sanctions, so that violations of waste pollution can be reduced .
