Abstract

Traffic accidents is a criminal act. Currently traffic accidents are very common in the community. Traffic accidents, especially in the form of hit-andrun crimes. The government has assigned hit-and-run crime in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. The police in this case are very influential in and in taking action against hit-and-run crimes. The police have made various efforts in the hit-and-run crime. The method used in this research is normative legal research. The data used are sourced from primary and secondary legal sources and interviews. The thought process is used deductively in this research. The results of this study indicate that there are several processes carried out by the police in the hit-and-run crime. as well as from the various efforts made by the police also encountered several obstacles related to evidence. The hope is that the actions taken by the police can make hit-and-run offenders deterred and the public can learn to be responsible if they are involved in an accident.
