Abstract

Environment management in public space has been a concern in big cities like Yogyakarta. All business is required to have a statement letter of their obligation to manage the environment surrounding their business site or SPPL (Surat Pernyataan Pengelolaan Lingkungan), as one of the requirement to have their business license. This rule is supposed to enforce in order to prevent environmental pollution due to business activities. This study assess the implementation of this rule and its law enforcement in Pasar Beringharjo Yogyakarta. Empirical method is used to determine the degree of law enforcement to the community law of business permit based on City Mayor's regulation no.6/2016 about environment protection and management. Interview was conducted to collect data from business owners and the resulting data was analyzed qualitatively. The result shows that most of the business owner does not have any SPPL and environmental problems, as consequences, are noticeable. Law enforcement is urgently needed to overcome this problem and to prevent further damage to market's environment surrounding Pasar Beringharjo Yogyakarta.
