Abstract

Doctors have obligations that they need to follow on the job, and one of them is keeping the medical records a secret. Medical records are documents that is filled with notes and documents about the identity of a patient, check ups, medication, actions and other services given. It is crucial for medical records to be kept a secret, but on the other hand, it can be revealed for various reasons, situations and needs. It could be for the patient needs, needs of the community or law needs with procedures that has been regulated in the medical law. This research is a normative law, in which focusing more on the comparison of laws that applies and the method of data collection (which can be done by interviewing the doctor and literature reviews). The result of the research shows that the law regarding responsibilities in revealing a medical record in medical cases are not optimal, which is why the medical code of ethics are emphasized.
