Abstract
Consumers are an important component in trading life. consumers must also have their own rights. Protection for consumers is regulated in law, therefore, the consumer has legal protection based on existing laws, namely consumer protection law. In the consumer protection law regulates the rights that should be obtained by consumers and the responsibilities of business actors. One of the responsibilities of business actors is that it is prohibited to sell or distribute food containing hazardous materials. However, in reality there are still many business actors who are still misbehaving to use these hazardous materials as food additives. This writing aims to determine how the legal protection for consumers against the use of food additives. The method used in this paper is juridical normative with data sources from secondary data consisting of primary legal materials in the form of statutory regulations and secondary legal materials in the form of literature and research results. The conclusion of this paper is that the government as a representative of the community should be more critical of consumer protection issues considering that the consumer protection law is already 20 years old
