Abstract

Illegal Logging is one form of an activity of forest destruction. In Indonesia Illegal Logging occurs in conservation areas, protection forests and production forests, this shows how much the situation of illegal logging is increasing and how serious it is. The discussion in this study is illegal logging that occurred in Tahura Bukit Barisan, North Sumatra, particularly in relation to the role of the North Sumatra Provincial Forestry Service in monitoring illegal logging. the research method used is empirical. To see what the role of the forestry office is and what are the obstacles in monitoring illegal logging in Tahura Bukit Barisan which in this case was carried out by the Forestry Police UPT Tahura Bukit Barisan Because this illegal logging was carried out by Mount Sinabung Eruption Refugees, the Forestry Police could not do anything about it, the surveillance was only a reminder, daily patrols, and data collection only. In carrying out this supervision, the Forestry Police also encountered obstacles, including: Mount Sinabung Eruption, Community Rejection, Lack of Human Resources at UPT TAHURA Bukit Barisan, Karo Regent's Letter, and the Covid-19 Virus.
