Abstract
This legal writing/thesis entitled "The Role of Police in Preventing the Circulation of Porn VCD (Video Compact Disc) and Magazine in Yogyakarta City". Method of this research was empirical legal research, i.e. the research which was conducted by direct interface to the source persons/respondent which was related to this research. It was supported by the literary research. Based on the result of this research and the data analysis on the role of police in solving up the circulation of porn VCD and magazine, the conclusion could be drawn is the role of police in solving up the circulation of porn VCD and magazine in Yogyakarta city is conducted by doing either preventive or repressive efforts. The preventive efforts are conducted by giving the instruction, guidance and the explanation toward the society or held any communicative forums. The repressive efforts are conducted by holding any scanning to the porn VCD rents and magazine stalls either legally or illegally
