Abstract
This paper analyzes the Legal Protection of the Winongo River Border Area in the City of Yogyakarta and the obstacles face by the the Yogyakarta City Government in implementing the protection of the Winongo River Border Area. Based on the result of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the Legal Protection of the Winongo River Border Area from illegal buildings carried out by the Yogyakarta City Government and related Institution has been running well although not yet fully optimal. The cause of the Legal Protection of the Winongo River Border Area is not optimal due to the lack of socialization by the Government and related institution to the community about the river border area, the low awareness of the community about the prohibition of occupying the river border area as a residential location and there are no clear regulations about the river border area.
