Abstract

This research is entitled Plastic Waste Management as an Effort to Prevent Pollution of Kuta Beach Waters, Badung Regency, Bali Province, based on the Governor of Bali Province Regulation Number 97 of 2018 concerning Restriction of Single-use Waste. This study aims to identify and examine the management of plastic waste in Kuta Beach due to the delivery of waste as an effort to prevent pollution from Kuta Beach, Badung Regency, Bali Province and to study the inhibiting and driving factors in the management of plastic waste. . This legal writing is an empirical research and data obtained through interviews and literature study. The result of this study is that Governor Regulation Number 97 of 2018 cannot be said to be fully realized, but the existence of this Governor Regulation has helped reduce the generation of plastic waste. The inhibiting factors found in the management of plastic waste at Kuta Beach are the change of seasons with high rainfall and bringing plastic waste to Kuta Beach due to the west wind season. In addition to natural factors, the obstacles found were the lack of public awareness of the dangers of using single-use plastics and business actors still providing plastic bags as food wrapping tools. Sanctions applied in Pergub Number 97 of 2018 are not realized and are less strict for violators of single-use plastic users. It is recommended that the Provincial Government of Bali conduct intensive and periodic socialization to the community to remind the negative impact caused by single-use plastic and also the government needs to apply strict sanctions against violations of the use of single-use waste can be reduced.
