Abstract
Human Trafficking or trafficking in persons is a form of modern-day slavery, which creates many victims, especially women and children. Trafficking in persons is mentioned with the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, from one location to another, across borders by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. The human trafficking is one of the forms of the violence of human persons. The victims of human trafficking are not capable to liberate themselves, to achieve the fulfillment of humanity. Although the United Nations promulgates Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, as the supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, the human trafficking remains as a social reality in Indonesia. Many people up till now become victims of these actions. Indonesia is one of the most populated country, rich of sources, but also risk to offer the persons as human trafficking. Many experts said that Indonesia is a primarily basis operation for human trafficking in South East Asia, and also as transit country for human trafficking. The cases that mostly happen to Indonesian woman is voluntary migrant worker as servant or factory labor through legal agent, or are later coerced into abusive conditions, prostitution or forced labor. The other dimension in Indonesia is problem with internal human trafficking, which involving women to move from the rural area to urban and then they will be exploited as prostitution or sexual worker. In front of the victims of trafficking, the Catholic Church does not agree and combat against this criminal. The program of the Catholic Church is that to prevent the trafficking actions, pastoral care for the victims and to promote the human rights. The Catholic Church is very active to promote the humanity, human dignity and the value of human persons. The violence against the human rights, as human trafficking must be canceled with all possibilities. The national law is one of the instruments to protect the Indonesian people of the violation their dignity.
