Abstract

This study aims to examine empirically about how the responsibility of the city government to carry out environmentally sound waste management and to find out the obstacles and solutions taken or implemented in its application in the city of Yogyakarta. This type of research is empirical legal research. This empirical legal research is a type of research that focuses on social facts. Methods of data collection in the form of library studies and interviews. The purpose of this research is to find out the Local Government responsibility in implementing an enviromentally sound waste management program in Yogyakarta. The research findings indicate that the responsibility of the Yogyakarta city government through Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) and Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (DLHK) is to control and manage waste, as environmental pollution control and stop the snowball from a phenomenon called the garbage apocalypse. And aims to improve quality as well as environmental function, realizing environmentally sound waste management, realizing clean and healthy city of Yogyakarta. Having goals and visions that are expected to create a healthy environment for the community and the environment.
