Abstract

The type of this legal writing was the legal protection towards the society of which conduct demonstration. It purposed to know the shape of legal protection and also the barriers faced in providing legal protection towards the demonstrator. The method of research used was normative legal writing, i.e. a research focused on the norms (law in the book) and needs secondary data (legal source) as primary data.the shape of legal protection towards the demonstrator includes the providing of: (1) legal assistance, (2) security guarantee, (3) psychological attendance towards the demonstrator who have trauma, (4) medical service towards the wounded demonstrators. The barriers faced by police in order to manifest to legal protection towards demonstrator are the lack of medium and prerequisite and also the police’s comprehension in handling demonstration, in addition of the lack of social comprehension concerning on given law and regulation. The police should increase the quality and quantity to handle demonstration, as well as providing legal comprehension and valid regulation in society.
