Abstract
Children as assets and are the next generation of the nation, should receive special attention and handling by the state. The rapid development of the era, causing changes in all lines of life, including children. Children become free in accessing the development of the times, causing various negative things to affect children including violence. For example, in the Sleman Regency area there is a lot of what is called klitih and the perpetrators are children. The police in the Sleman Regency area as law enforcement officers are the institution authorized to handle child cases. Criminal Law Enforcement by the Police Against Children who are perpetrators of "klitih" in Sleman Regency has not been maximized and has not paid attention to children's rights. The term "klitih" is not known within the scope of criminal law, so the police at the Sleman Regency use the term street crime. This research uses normative law method. The process of finding legal rules, legal principles and doctrines from jurists that aims to find the legal issues being discussed. The results of this study show how criminal law enforcement is carried out by the police against children who do Klitih in Sleman Regency. There is an effort to resolve child cases that must be taken by law enforcement officials, namely diversion. Diversion is an effort to divert the settlement of child cases from the criminal justice process to processes outside the criminal justice.
