Abstract

The thesis entitled "Medical Waste Management as an effort to prevent pollution in Pemalang City (Case Study of Randudongkal Health Center) Puskesmas is a public health service and first-level individual health effort, by prioritizing promotive and preventive efforts in its working area. The health centre is a producer of waste, for this reason waste management can be carried out where this waste management is a series of activities that include reduction, storage, collection, transportation, utilization, processing, and landfilling of waste. The purpose of medical waste management is to prevent environmental pollution, pollution prevention is part of controlling environmental pollution and/or damage. There are several objectives of preventing pollution, namely to maintain the continuity of living things on earth. If there are no efforts to prevent environmental pollution, there will be damage to nature and can threaten living things. This research was conducted directly to the respondents to obtain primary data as the main data and supported by secondary data. The results of the study showed that the puskesmas had not worked optimally due to several constraints. The health centre do not have an incinerator which makes the health centre cooperate with third parties, and there are officers who sometimes still do not apply existing provisions.
