Abstract

The rapid development of mining activities in Kanaan Village Bolaang Mongondow Regency has produced waste as a result of these activities. The impact of mining activity waste is a decrease in dissolved oxygen and a decrease in water quality in the Kanaan Village river. The type of research used is empirical legal research. Empirical legal research is research conducted with a focus on social facts. This research was conducted directly with respondents and/or sources to obtain primary data which was complemented by secondary data consisting of primary and secondary legal materials. Water pollution due to mining activities in Kanaan Village, Bolaang Mongondow Regency is carried out in accordance with Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management, however there are obstacles being faced. Prevention, mitigation, and recovery efforts have been carried out by the environmental service but are still not working. Control of water pollution due to mining activities carried out by the Bolaang Mongondow Regency Environmental Service has not been implemented properly, this is due to a lack of human resources and limited authority in implementing sanctions against mining business actors.
