Abstract

Environmental pollution occurs more quickly if the increase in an activity carried out by humans due to human nature that always wants to innovate. Waste discharged into the river must be managed first by decomposition in the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) so that the content of hazardous materials or substances remaining production can be described properly so as to reduce the potential for river pollution. The Department of Environment and Forestry of the Special Region of Yogyakarta has the task of assisting the governor in carrying out environmental and forestry Affairs. PT. Budi Makmur Jaya Murni is categorized as a primary industry because it is an industrial sector that extracts raw materials into finished goods such as jackets, shoes, gloves, and others. Formulation of the problem in this study; to find out how the supervision carried out by the Department of Environment and Forestry of Special Region of Yogyakarta on Tannery Waste Management conducted by PT. Budi Makmur Jaya Murni to prevent river pollution and how waste management is done by PT. Budi Makmur Jaya Murni. This legal research is an empirical research that is research conducted with a focus on social facts about the object to be studied. Wastewater management includes efforts to prevent pollution that can have an impact on the environment, by conducting wastewater management, the government hopes that every business and/or activity that has an impact on the environment can be minimized. Supervision of the Department of Environment and Forestry of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in order to prevent pollution of the Gajah Wong River has been well implemented but not optimal due to lack of human resources. Wastewater management conducted by PT. Budi Makmur Jaya purely as an effort to prevent pollution of the Gajah Wong River is good enough.
