Abstract

ABSTRACT Waste management by the Department of Environment and Land Affairs as an effort to control environmental pollution in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency. What are the obstacles and solutions for waste management at the Batu Cermin market by the Department of Environment and Land as an effort to control environmental pollution in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency. The type of research used by the author is empirical research, namely research conducted by focusing on social facts or people's behavior in the field. Data analysis used is descriptive analysis. The processing of waste from the Batu Cermin Market carried out by the Environment and Land Agency is in accordance with applicable regulations, but cannot be carried out optimally because the waste segregation activities carried out have not been maximized, waste recycling has not been carried out at the TPA and waste processing has not been carried out using the 3R principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The obstacles experienced were the low public awareness of the benefits of waste sorting and the lack of cleaners in the market to sort waste. Helping the community, especially the people in Batu Cermin Market in terms of waste management by providing adequate cleaning facilities and infrastructure.
