Abstract

This research is entitled Legal Aspects of Protecting Prambanan Temple from Damage Due to Tourism Activities. This research describes and examines (1) How is the legal protection for Prambanan Temple from damage due to tourism activities? (2) What are the obstacles and solutions to the legal protection of Prambanan Temple from damage due to tourism activities? This research was conducted in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta as empirical legal research. Data collection techniques are carried out directly from sources and respondents through interviews and literature studies. The results of this research are that legal protection for Prambanan Temple from damage due to tourism activities has been running well. This is demonstrated by the existence of statutory regulations, namely Law Number 11 of 2010 concerning Cultural Heritage. This law confirms that the Government or Regional Government has the duty to protect, develop and utilize cultural heritage. However, there are still obstacles, namely the absence of guidelines regarding regional zoning, lack of coordination between relevant institutions (stakeholders) related to the preservation of cultural heritage, so that sometimes there are overlapping rules or policies in the protection, development and utilization of existing cultural heritage. in the field between the Cultural Heritage Conservation Center (Central Government) and the Regional Government, there are no guidelines regarding the use of Prambanan Temple, such as what activities are permitted and what activities are not permitted within Prambanan Temple.
