Abstract

Correctional Institutions are a criminal justice subsystem that carries out law enforcement in the filed of treatment of prisoners, children and inmates. This correctional instituions has a goal, namely to develop and guid inmates. Of course, this correctional institution has the hope that the inmates will be better after returning to society. It is very important for inmates to follow the rules and regulations that have been regulated in the Correctional Institution. In fact, the inmates at the Class IIA Kerobokan Bali Penintentiary violated the regulations that had been set. Inmates here carry out physical violence which causes riots and many victims. The author here conducted research because of the discovery of a legal problem which aims to analyze and find out the factors that cause physical violence at the Class IIA Kerobokan Bali Penitentiary and what forms of countermeasures there are at the Class IIA Kerobokan Bali Penitentiary. The author uses empirical legal research to find one conclusion, namely that the factor that causes physical violence is overcapacity and how to overcome this is by providing sanctions against prisoners. Correctional Institutions cannot do many things because it comes back to the consciousness of each prisoner himself. Prisoners must be able to become better and more orderly individuals while in correctional institutions.
