Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a wealth of natural resources that are very abundant. One of the natural resources that has value and is often utilized by humans is gold. In Indonesia there are still very many Unlicensed Gold Mining or often abbreviated as PETI which uses chemicals, namely mercury. One of the provinces in Indonesia that has very potential and diverse mining potential is Central Borneo Province, especially in Murung Raya Regency. The purpose of the study was to determine law enforcement efforts against unlicensed gold mining that uses mercury as an effort to overcome pollution and environmental damage in Murung Raya Regency, Central Borneo and to find out the obstacles and provide solutions in law enforcement against unlicensed gold mining that uses mercury. This type of research on legal research is empirical legal research which focuses on social facts. Law enforcement efforts against unlicensed gold mining (PETI) that uses mercury as an effort to overcome pollution and environmental damage in Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan have been carried out in accordance with direct directions from the Chief of Police through Operation PETI Telabang, although it is still not optimal. Law enforcement against PETI in Murung Raya Regency is still not optimal due to several obstacles.
