Abstract

This legal writing entitled Function and Role of Socialization Institution in the Construction of Residivist Prisoners. The problem formulation in this legal writing was how is function and role of socialization institution in Wirogunan Socialization Institution of Yogyakarta in the construction of residivist prisoners. The purpose of this legal research was to gain data on the function and role of socialization institution in Wirogunan Socialization Institution of Yogyakarta in constructing the residivist prisoners, as well as what barriers faced in the process of implementation of the function and role. Relating to the title of this research aforementioned above, thus the conducted research was empirical legal research focused on the legal society behaviour (law in action), and this research used primary data as main data and secondary data as supporting data. The purpose of this legal research was legal sociology. The data used by author in this legal writing were primary and secondary data. The location of research selected by author was Wirogunan Socialization Institution of Yogyakarta. The population in this research was determined by purposive sampling technique and sample selection was conducted by taking some subjects based on certain purpose. In this resaerch the population sample taked was comprised of the prisoner who according to the author have any traits or specific characteristict who have their punishment in Wirogunan Socialization Institution of Yogyakarta. The responden in this research was residivist prisoners who have their punishment in Wirogunan Socialization Institution. In this research, source person was the Officer of Wirogunan Socialization Institution Class IIA i.e. Mr. Ambar Kusuma as Bimaswat staff. The secondary data comprised of primary legal material, comprised of positive legal norm by shape of regulation. The secondary legal material was legal opinion gained from books, paper, result of research, internet, opinion of master of law, legal practitioner and newspaper relating to the problem studied by author. The method of data collection in this research was conducted by interview and questionnaire. The interview was conducted with soure person and respondent in Wirogunan Socialization Institution. The questionnaire taken by the author was closed questionnaire. The literary study was conducted by studying books or writings relating to the studied problem.
