Abstract

This research aims to find out and examine the application of sanctions against PT. Papua Agro Lestari, by the Malind Anim Traditional Law Community in Merauke district. The method used in this research is a type of normative legal research, namely data collection is carried out by reviewing and analyzing primary legal materials as a source of research data. The sample in this research is that researchers collect data by interviewing sources, observing and documenting, namely taking pictures of objects that are considered to cause problems. The results of the research show that, the implementation of sanctions by the Malind Anim Tribe Customary Law community against PT. Papua Agro Lestari has been implemented, namely that the company has paid for part of the environmental damage that occurred, namely related to river pollution and also large-scale deforestation, as well as arbitrary land annexation. The company gave money to the clan owners whose land was annexed by the company, then to the heads of families who had suffered losses due to the pollution of the Bian River. This sanction not only provides compensation money but also requires companies to manage waste and clean rivers every month.
