Abstract

Mappasilaga tedong (buffalo fighting) is a tradition that has existed for a long time as a form of comfort for bereaved families, then passed down from generation to generation until now, however, people abuse this tradition as a criminal act of gambling. In eradicating this criminal act of gambling, the party whose role in state administration is the police. Therefore, the aim of this research is to find out the position of the police in dealing with criminal acts of gambling in the Indonesian state administration system in the tradition of mappasilaga tedong (buffalo fighting) at the traditional sign ceremony. solo' (funeral ceremony) in North Toraja Regency. The research method used is normative legal research. The results of this research are that the position of the police in dealing with criminal acts of gambling in the state administration system plays a very important role because in accordance with the law on the police, the police play an important role in realizing their duties and functions in enforcing order in society and handling and resolving every act, whether crime or crime. violations that occurred in the mappasialag tedong (buffalo fighting) tradition.
