Abstract

Banguntapan is one of the district in Bantul that located in Special Region of Yogyakarta where the majority of the residents live as a farmer. Due to government subsidies, now most of the farmers in Banguntapan use inorganic fertilizer. They use the inorganic fertilizer continuously without thinking about the side effect. Without a balanced of inorganic and organic fertilizer it will leads to the decrease the productivity of the soil. Organic fertilizer also very important because it contains natural materials which beneficial for the soil. If it happens continuously without certain actions, it may eventually emerge as Banguntapan primary issue in need of legal protection. This research uses empirical law methods and the data obtained with interviews from authorized institutions and local farmers also from laws, legal opinion and documents. The result of the research revealed that the legal protection of the agriculture land in Banguntapan already good. However, there are several obstacles that cause soil damages. It was caused by local farmers of their lack of awareness about the significant impact on the environment. Also it occurs due to the lack of socalization and the implementation of 5T fertilizer program from the governement agencies.
