Abstract

Law problems that become the fundamental of this law writing are the destruction of the forest and the violation of the society’s right by the occurrence of gold mining in Nabire Regency Papua. Thus, the purpose of this law writing is to find out forest and society protection towards the gold mining in that area. It is hoped that this law writing will contribute to the development of Law Study in general, and specifically to Agrarian Law, the development, and the environment. This research is conducted by Random Sampling method. Based on the research that is conducted by the writer, it is found that the protection of the forest and society in Nabire regency has been done. However, it is not optimized yet. To create the protection of the forest and society in Nabire regency, the writer suggests the society to be aware of the negative impact that will occur to the forest because of mining activities done by the society, the law consistency, the equation of perception about civil mining permission in government authority and the transparency of information in mining field and cooperation between governmental agency dealing wit gold mining in the forest.
