Abstract

Mining activities are often perceived as environmentally destructive, as they involve the extraction of natural resources solely to meet human needs. Therefore, the aim of this research is to understand the role of mining stakeholders in preventing environmental damage and to identify obstacles and solutions in preventing the environmental impact of mining. The method employed is empirical legal research with a qualitative approach, using both primary and secondary data sources. The findings indicate that the role of sand mining stakeholders in preventing environmental damage involves conducting reclamation once their Mining Business License (IUP) has expired. However, a hindrance arises as sand mining stakeholders are reluctant to carry out reclamation after completing their mining activities. Consequently, a suggested solution is for supervisory officers to enforce stricter oversight to ensure that mining stakeholders fulfill their responsibilities and do not evade them.
