Abstract

Hospital is a health care institution where health workers gather in carrying out their profession such as: doctors, psychologists, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapy, laboratories, pharmacies, beauty clinics, medical rehabilitation, and others. The main purpose of establishing a hospital is to provide health services in terms of treatment, medical action, diagnosis of disease and efforts for medical rehabiitation to meet patient needs. Pollution refers to the behaviour or process of releasing substances or energy that can result in adverse changes in the natural environment, such as air, water, or soil. This pollution can come from various sources, such as industrial waste, transportation, agriculture, and other human activities. In this study, the author wants to know how medical waste is managed in an effort to prevent internal pollution by PKU Muhammadiyah Kotagede Hospital. The waste at PKU Muhammadiyah Kotagede Hospital is in accordance with applicable regulations, from the Hospital director has also completed a medical and non-medical waste disposal permit. It is done as a guideline for environmental management and monitoring, and is absolute. The obligation has been stated at PKU Muhmmadiyah Kotagede Hospital. The inhibiting factor when managing waste is only when the waste management is unusable or damaged, so that there is no transportation of waste and causes a buildup of garbage in the temporary waste storage area. The implementation carried out by the PKU Kotagede Hospital is good according to the rules. Muhammadiyah PKU Kotagede Hospital needs to add cleaning service so that when workers are absent, they can replace them.
